The Fresh Christmas Tree farm is registered USDA and a member of the National Christmas Tree association. The farm follows sustainable growing guidelines that protect the natural environment. All the trees are hand sheared and not sold until proper time. Santa's forest is inviting people to visit their tree farm this season. Visitors must obtain free tickets for tours on a first-come, first-served basis at the Capitol Guide Service kiosk located along the curving sidewalk southwest of the Capitol (near the intersection of First Street, S.W., and Independence Avenue.) The Capitol Visitor Center is open to visitors from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Inauguration Day. As news of Obama's victory emerged Tuesday evening, supporters exploded in celebration all over the District. Thousands of cheering, screaming Washington DC citizens streamed into the streets last night to celebrate D-Senator Barack Obama’s victory over R-Senator John McCain. DC residents and college students from George Washington University, Howard University, and Georgetown paraded down Pennsylvania Avenue and congregated in front of the White House. They chanted and celebrated well into the night.

John McCain Rally in Springfield, VA
Republican presidential candidate John McCain hosted a "Road to Victory" rally in Springfield, Va. on Saturday, Nov. 1. The area has become increasingly friendly to Democrats. This was Sen. McCain's final rally in the crucial battleground state in his quest to win Virginia's 13 electoral votes Tuesday. He called Fairfax County "key to this election." The suburban county represents one-seventh of the state's voters. Speakers included Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Cindy McCain.
The United States Capitol is open for visitation Monday through Saturday through much of the year, including Federal holidays. These 22 Corinthian sandstone columns were among 24 that were part of the east central portico of the United States Capitol. A marble duplicate of the sandstone East Front was built 33.5 feet (10.2 m) from the old Front during 1958-1962, and a connecting extension incorporated what formerly was an outside wall as an inside wall. In the process, the Corinthian columns were moved to a suitable setting for them in a large meadow at the National Arboretum, where they are on display with a reflecting pool.
Halloween typically draws a large number of people to the Georgetown area of DC. The celebration this year was larger than usual because Halloween fell on a Friday and the weather was dry and warm.

Spine-tingling fun awaited all those who dared to enter Fright Fest at Six Flags America. The park was transformed with haunted attractions, mysterious shows and specially-themed rides. Fright Fest had thrills and chills for everyone with family fun by day and fright by night. Little ghosts and goblins enjoyed trick-or-treating, costume contests and spooky shows. At night, the fear factor goes up with haunted houses, trails of terror, hayrides, special-effect sideshows and monsters roaming the park.
Joe Biden Campaigns West Virginia
The Obama-Biden campaign made their first foray in the Mountain State Friday, October 21. Democratic running mate, Senator Joe Biden attended a "Change We Need" rally in Charleston, West Virginia area to speak about the state of our economy. Thousands of voters listened to our nation's most senior senator, Robert C. Byrd, Sen. Jay Rockefeller and Gov. Joe Manchin, make the case for supporting Barack Obama and Joe Biden into the White House this November.
"We need to make an investment in rebuilding America's infrastructure. Our plan that we estimate will create 12,000 jobs here in West Virginia alone."
Looking for an event that is both educational and fun for the whole family? You are heartily invited to visit historic Claude Moore Colonial Farm at Turkey Run. Many talented artisians from around the area demonstrate their skills and have hand crafted goods for sale. All the volunteers you will see are in 18th-century attire. The proceeds for the event benifit the many educational programs held at Claude Moore Colonial farm. The two day fair is open to the public from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm.
After numerous reports of poltergeist activity, DCpages halloween staff investigated Cave Cemetary in Virginia's Shennandoah National Park.
Mostly members of the Cave Family are buried in this cemetary. Dates on the tombstones indicate range from the mid 1800's to present. The evening we chose to visit the haunted cemetary was enveloped in a heavy fog. The diffused light hampered our vision and played tricks with our eyes and cameras. As you too will see when you enter the gallery.
October 13, 2007 marks Calleva's 15th annual Markoff's Haunted Forest. Walk through the woods on a tour of ghosts, ghouls, and goblins. For not much more than the price of a movie, you can take a walking tour through a Halloween event you're not likely to forget. The fear's real, but the danger isn't. Good fun for the whole family.
Markoff's Haunted Forest has evolved throughout the years into a great tradition. Alot of the same family, friends and staff are still involved.
